Community Care Coordinator
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Community Care Manager
About the Role
The Community Care Coordinator addresses food insecurity for individuals and families by providing direct support to Just Roots community members and coordinating programs and resources to meet their needs.
Key Responsibilities
Community Member Support
- Provide case management services in English and Spanish, including:
- Communicating with families via phone, email, text, and occasionally in person.
- Supporting program enrollment, addressing immediate needs, and collecting survey responses.
- Referring participants to additional community resources as needed.
- Notifying members when their program participation is ending and offering alternative food resources.
Outreach and Communication
- Provide Spanish-language interpretation for online and in-person community meetings, workshops, outreach, and events.
- Translate program materials, newsletters, and forms into Spanish.
Logistics Support
- Assist with CSA distributions, including payment processing and providing recipe/nutrition education.
- Participate in regular database sessions to track program data and generate reports as needed.
- Coordinate biweekly delivery routes and dispatch drivers.
- Facilitate Medicaid claims and eligibility checks for program members.
- Assist with ordering and packaging cookware kits.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Actively participate in team meetings and trainings to foster a culture of trust and inclusivity.
- Provide administrative support to colleagues leading other food access programs.
Required Skills
- Spanish Fluency: Spoken and written Spanish required; additional fluency in Portuguese, Creole, or Romanian is a plus.
- Outstanding Communication: Comfortable engaging with community members, team members, and partners via various methods, including virtual spaces.
- Cultural Awareness and Compassion: Ability to listen and support community members with empathy and without judgment.
- Relationship Building: Skilled at initiating and maintaining relationships with individuals, families, and collaborators.
- Technology Proficiency: Comfortable with new software and databases.
- Organization: Detail-oriented with strong case documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Massachusetts Community Health Worker core competencies.
- Experience with Google Suite and Salesforce or similar database software.
- Knowledge of seasonal cooking and nutrition.
Position Details
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Location:
While most responsibilities can be completed remotely, candidates must attend mandatory in-person events, CSA distributions, and meetings, primarily in Greenfield, MA, with occasional travel to other parts of Massachusetts. Farm Coordinator
Full Time, year-round, hourly
Compensation: $20-22 per hour, plus time and a half for anything worked over 40 hours. Health and vision insurance, retirement contribution, paid time off, and vegetables.

Ideal candidates have at least three years of prior farm experience on a production farm and at least one year of experience in a management or leadership position.

Job Details
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the direction and leadership of the Just Roots Farm Manager, you will be supporting:
- All greenhouse production––for CSA, markets, and seedling sale
- All aspects of field production: weed management, pest management, field preparations, transplanting, direct seeding, and production in tunnels
- CSA management: setting what’s in shares, harvest list creation for market style shares and box shares, tracking field availability of crops during harvest and thinking multiple weeks ahead
- General land care and stewardship on the Just Roots property, including care and support of the community garden, forested areas, field edges, and infrastructure.
- Tractor work: Be an operator, along with farm manager, of our small fleet of tractors and equipment with safety and skill. Provide oversight for assistant growers in operations and safety training as needed.
- Basic maintenance and care of all tractors and farm equipment.
- Perform basic carpentry and repair work on farm structures and systems as needed.
- Improve, refine, and maintain Just Roots SOP’s for regularly performed farm tasks.
- Co-lead the team of full and part-time assistant growers to accomplish the daily, weekly and monthly farm tasks.
- Prioritize top quality customer service, creating a welcoming and accessible environment at the farm and wherever Just Roots is working. Ability to communicate clearly with customers and visitors is particularly important.
Specific leadership responsibilities would likely include (but would be refined based on candidate’s experience):
- Oversee the Farmer’s market team, ensuring quality harvest, distribution and record keeping
- Manage visitor, volunteer, and workshare experiences, providing a cohesive experience for all.
- Manage all harvest activities, paying close attention to quality, efficiency, and beauty.
- Post-harvest: ensure that all produce is washed and/or cooled with care and efficiency, paying close attention to quality control. Maintain a clean and organized wash station and walk-in cooler.
- Distribution: Set standards of quality for the season, supporting the team to maintain top quality and cohesive CSA distributions and box shares. This position will lead one CSA distribution a week.
- Pick-Your-Own field: decide weekly pick list for members, enhance visitor experience, and improve quality of crops in field
- Track and manage all weekly donations
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED SKILLS AND TOOLS:
- Three full seasons on a vegetable farm
- Two years tractor experience
- At least one year of experience in some kind of leadership role/experience leading or managing people
- Strengths in: the desire to learn, initiative and motivation, problem-solving, and love of farm work
- Highly organized person
- Team oriented and flexible
- Ability to show up on time every day.
- Enjoy and thrive with routine and structure–good at both following the structure set by the Farm Manager and in setting your own plans and structure for a day/week/season.
- Reliable transportation for commuting to farm and valid driver’s license to be able to drive farm vehicles.
- Communication:
- Ability to follow written and verbal(oral) instructions and willingness to be flexible when daily tasks change
- Willingness to seek guidance when needed
- Desire and ability to listen
- Have (or be willing to develop) direct and healthy communication skills with manager and team
members - Willingness and want to give and receive feedback.
- Participate in weekly farm leadership team meetings
- Participate in monthly all-staff meetings
- Engage in and support culture setting, ways of being, orientations, and communications with the seasonal farm team

- Strong manual dexterity skills
LOCATION + EQUIPMENT:
On farm presence is required five days per week from March-November. In the ‘off season’ (December-February), some remote work is possible and can be planned and managed with supervisor. Just Roots provides tools needed to carry out all necessary farm tasks. Employee is responsible for their own farm gear and necessary attire. A computer is provided by Just Roots.
SCHEDULE:
Seasonal Schedule in general:
March – November: Five days per week (Monday- Friday)
December – February: 3-4 days per week
Attendance required at most large JR events (usually 2-3 per year)
Occasional Saturday availability needed year round
