WOMPY WEAVING WITH INVASIVE BITTERSWEET
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 21st
10am-12pm
34 Glenbrook Drive
WHAT TO EXPECT:
We will learn about a non-native, aggressive, and abundant vine growing around us — Asiatic Bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) — and what abundant gifts for weaving these vines offer us! We will learn a way to green-weave a simple bittersweet basket, from harvest to finish, and practice awakening our hands to this age-old craft present in cultures around the world and across time.
HOW TO PREPARE:
Wear easy clothes suited for the temps/weather and that you’re ok getting a litte dirty — we may do some harvesting, some straddling our projects, or explore other ways to hold our bodies when wrangling a vine! Bring sufficient water for yourself, a snack, strong and stretched hands. Optional gloves and eye protection/sunglasses for wayward vines.
