DESCRIPTION:Wompy Weaving: Invasive Basketry with Anya Klepacki\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWOMPY WEAVING WITH INVASIVE BITTERSWEET\nSATURDAY SEPTEMBER 21st\n \n10am-12pm\n34 Glenbrook Drive\nWHAT TO EXPECT: \nWe will learn about a non-native\, aggressive\, and abundant vine growing around us — Asiatic Bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) — and what abundant gifts for weaving these vines offer us! We will learn a way to green-weave a simple bittersweet basket\, from harvest to finish\, and practice awakening our hands to this age-old craft present in cultures around the world and across time. \nHOW TO PREPARE: \nWear easy clothes suited for the temps/weather and that you’re ok getting a litte dirty — we may do some harvesting\, some straddling our projects\, or explore other ways to hold our bodies when wrangling a vine! Bring sufficient water for yourself\, a snack\, strong and stretched hands.
