On February 11, some fifty people came out on a chilly evening for the first campfire at the farm! It was a dark night but fortunately there was plenty of light and warmth around the fire.
The moon had not yet risen during the time we were there, so finding the driveway and parking properly ended up being a bit challenging due to the lack of light. We plan to have better signs and lighting next time.
People of all ages gathered around a nice big fire and sipped hot cider. In no time, we burned through the pile of wood that we thought would last a couple of months!, over the embers we roasted apples, Instead of marshmallows, we roasted apples which turned out to be amazingly delicious, like apple pie on a stick. Some people sang while others just talked and enjoyed the beautiful night. Lots of children came, too, and played safely around the fire.
There will be another campfire at the farm, 6-8:30pm on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Hope to see you there! (That’s the same day as the Franklin County Green Fair, by the way.)
